Moisture Content in the Plastics Industry
Many customers are aware that there are only 2 TRUE moisture specific analyzers on the market today that provide water only results. One of them is the Karl Fischer Titration method,
and the other is the Vapor Pro®. If you are currently using the KF method and are interested in reducing chemical usage, then you will find the Vapor Pro® to
be a viable alternative. The Vapor Pro® contains a moisture specific sensor, which eliminates the toxic reagents and specialized glassware. Arizona
Instrument offers moisture analyzers using two types of technology: Relative Humidity (RH) Sensor Technology - Vapor Pro® Series and Loss On Drying (LOD) Technology - MAX
® Series.
Arizona Instrument LLC provides solutions to moisture content determination. Some problems that could be attributed to moisture:
Bubbles or Blisters | Nozzle Drool | Silver Streaking or Spray | Yellowing or Discoloration | Brittleness | Hazing
RH Sensor Technology: Vapor Pro® Series
A viable alternative to Karl Fischer Titration that can be used to determine moisture content for various resins in the plastics industry. Laboratory studies
have shown the
Computrac ® Vapor Pro® can accurately
determine water concentration with the same level of precision as the Karl Fischer Titration method without using reagents. It has shown significant improvement
in ease of use when compared to single sample testing methods common to Karl Fischer analysis. Because the Vapor Pro
® can use a
Dry Air Generator instead
of nitrogen, you will have more flexibility with the plant or lab location of the analyzer. Therefore, the elimination of: hazardous chemical solvents, nitrogen, and trained chemists
to run the sample testing makes the Vapor Pro
® the optimal solution for Resin Manufacturers, Injection Molders, Extruders, and Medical Device Manufacturers (Bioresins).
LOD Technology: MAX® Series
Arizona Instrument´s RAPID loss on drying instrumentation has proven to provide a more desirable method of moisture measurement when compared to traditional and other loss on drying
techniques. The MAX
® Series of instrumentation is able to provide real time moisture measurements to help users optimize moisture measurement methods, while maintaining the
ease of use. The four-place analytical balance, nickel chromium heating element, and steel casing that houses the analyzer, protecting its components make our newest LOD instrument, the
Computrac ® MAX® 4000XL, fast, accurate, durable,
and repeatable. Some great features of the MAX
® 4000XL include the ability for Ethernet hook up for remote access through the internet. You can enter and download everything
from your desk while the analyzer is in another area. Also, the MAX
® 4000XL can download data to a memory stick. No need for a printer.
